There is no funding for new participants, but there is money for continuing fellows. $20,000 FOR STUDENTS WHO WANT TO BECOME TEACHERS (Douglas Teacher Scholarships 84.176) Valerie Hurry US Dept of Education Office of Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education Division of Higher Education Incentive Programs 600 Independence Ave SW Washington DC 20202 202-260-3392 The program objective is to provide scholarships through the States that enable and encourage outstanding high school graduates to pursue teaching careers at the preschool, elementary, or secondary level. Grants are made available to States for scholarships that lead to a teaching certificate. Interested applicants must contact their State agency to apply for the scholarship. Money available: $15,379,000. Scholarship assistance is given in the amounts up to $5,000 each year, for up to four years.
